NY, NY fantasy vacation revisited

In my previous post about all the various places in New York I'd like to visit, I had neglected to mention North Brother Island. It is a desert island in NY, which was once used as, amongst other things/ways, a sanatorium for Typhus patients &/or recovering addicts. It has been completely abandoned for about 40 years. It having been abandoned for so long is the reason for my fascination with the island. It would be so spooky to explore. Would be something of an adventure, almost post-apocalyptic in nature. I first learned about it on the docu-drama series "Life After People." Great show.

A few days ago I finished another book, Footprints of Thunder by James F. David. Twas quite good. I really enjoyed it. It was sort of like Jurassic Park, in that it involved dinosaurs in the modern world, but it featured a clever time-travel motif instead of the whole genetic engineering thing. In some ways it made me think of a "zombie apocalypse" novel, but with the zombies replaced with dinos, I also found it slightly reminiscent of Stephen King's The Stand. Breakdown of society & collapse of civilization as we know it. In part of the novel a big chunk of New York City reverts to primordial reptilian-fauna-infested savanna. So yeah, I enjoyed it a great deal. I actually have the sequel sitting on my "to read" shelf right now. I'll be picking it up after I get through a few other books.

That is all for today.
